Emails from-stray Dog

 Thu 27/12/2012 5:56 a.m.

After looking at the extent of the damage done by a hacker against the

site, I am slowly rebuilding the data and removing the spam links.

The following sections should be OK now and I have taken measures to prevent this in the future...  little buggers are getting more clever and require a more complex remedy:

Hash Mail - is working fine and spam free.  Remember, in the future, Hash Mail is the way to contact myself and Little Pig at User ID's Straydog and LittlePig respectively from the worldhhh.com or worldhashspace.com where Hash Mail resides.

Hash Bible - cleaned up and working now.

World Directory - I cleaned it up and it should be spam free for now.

Future Tortures world interhash event calendar - Fixed.  Hey, if your event is not in there, remember this calendar will be going out around the first of January hard copy.

Marketplace - fixed the listings, still need to work on the ordering mechanisms

Still working on other sections and hope to have all trashed personal hash space and Visual OnSec sites back to normal by this weekend.

Thanks for your patience.  I will be spending more time in the future on my Global Trash duties and hope to have the site working better for you.

Especially tightening security once again.

Cheers and On On

3/2/2012       Subject: [hashlist] Appeal for World Interhash Support - 10 Feb Deadline

Please pass this on to your respective hash email lists... Thanks.

This is a personal appeal to those who told me they wanted a great world event for a lot less... Stray Dog

*  World Interhash Registration Cutoff Coming Up - Feb 10th!

http://www.worldinterhash.com

Please send in your registration now and save a lot of money as the World Interhash registration fee will be going up on February 10th.  Right now you can get the following events cheap, but after the 10th, you will pay a lot more for all three or combination prices...

18th World Interhash Orlando, Florida $99.95

19th World Interhash Hiedelberg, Germany $75

20th World Interhash in Okinawa, Japan $75

Save On 2: 2012 Orlando & 2013 Heidelberg $165.00
Save On 2: 2013 Heidelberg & 2014 Okinawa $165.00
Save On 3: 2012 Orlando, 2013 Heidelberg, 2014 Okinawa $225.00

You can pay $250 and up for other events tailored as 'world' events, or you can get a lot more with the best bang for your buck REAL world interhash held literally around the world today for a whole lot less.  So go ahead and show your support for this great event before February 10th.

Personal Note from Stray Dog...  A lot of people are working long and hard to keep this event from succeeding.  You see them trashing it on blogs and websites, spreading the word that it is a fake, making liabelous personal attacks against me and the event.  Why?  Because, if it is successful, that means that other interhash events will have to offer a lot more for a lot less, then how will they be able to get money under the table, vendor kickbacks, rig host elections, have paid committee members, and be set for years to come with the left over money from a bloated registration fee, as has been alledged in the past.  If World Interhash succeeds, one so-called world event that has only appeared in Asia-Down Under for almost all events but twice in Europe (never Africa, North America, South America, etc.), will then have to try harder, actually start allowing other continents in on the event and take less of your hard earned beer money, or cease to compete.  Support World Interhash and take the monopoly away from an event that has enriched the wrong people for too long.

There is nothing fake about World Interhash, there was nothing fake about the previous 17 annual events, including the fine event held in Jiangmen, China last year where for only US$69.95 people got more than they ever got at Interhash in quality scenic trails, great 4 and 5-star restaurant food and banquets, paid pub crawls, a haberdashery bag worth half the fee retail and a lot more.  Come to Orlando, Florida this September and experience what a World Interhash is supposed to give you, without breaking the bank and giving up beer for six months to afford it!

Forum Thread on Terrorist Threat of Interhash Events posted - If your post is missing, you can post it again there.  I got tired of trying to weed it all out from all the messages complaining to me about the number of messages being posted in their email boxes.  So, using the forum for threads in the future should fix this problem.

http://www.worldhashspace.com/

Click on Forum, then Interhash Events category, then you will see the thread.  In the future, we will send people there to continue any threads that develop on this list.  Everyone on this list has access to the site and log on, so that will save your email boxes.

Now, all of you who wanted to continue the discussion, go there and do it now!

Again, those of you commenting on the terrorist thread, please take it to worldhashspace.com forum, Interhash Events.  You can post all you want there.  In the future, at the request of our fellow list members who want a quite email box, if a thread develops after a post, I plan to send it to the Forum instead of everyone's email boxes.  Thanks for your understanding.

One time, I mistakenly posted the unsubscribe address.  Here is the correct one (posted correctly sooooo many times that it amazes me why someone still

asks)  Are these guys just coming out of a circle after a lot of down downs - yeah, that makes sense.

End of Thread - go to forum

1.  After about 24 hours, we have exhausted the terrorist threat thread and there seems to be high emotions about it.  Please take this up on the on-line forum in the future at worldhashspace.com, Interhash Event category if you wish to discuss it more.

 2. The originator was providing a warning to those who were going to Kenya originally so they could make an informed decision as to whether or not it was a risk they were willing to take.  He should be applauded for providing important information to hashers.  I provided the same warning about Indonesia, for the same reason.  While it is true, there are places in any city in the world where it is not safe, there is a difference between government warned impending threat based on intelligence vs. normal crime.

All of you traveling to a country of which you are not familiar should always be aware.  That does not mean that you need to stop going overseas to interhash, it means you need to be careful.

 3.  If your post did not make it (and 2/3 did not), it was because of one of the following reasons:

 *  You just sent an attaboy about some post you agreed with (waste of email box space)

 *  You repeated an argument already exhausted.

 *  You failed to keep it friendly by attacking a person instead of their point of view.

 *  You sent an angry and frustrated unsubscribe message to the list instead of to the unsusbscribe address.  If you can't read, it is [email protected]  If that doesn't work, it is because you mispelled it or you sent from and address you did not subscribe with or used an alias, which was against the terms of service.  If you cannot send from that alias, you must know what that alias is before whining to me, or I cannot do anything for you either.  And, be polite, you are the one violating terms of service using an alias, it is not my fault.

I apologize, the guy from the Pacific is correct, I let some messages come through which attacked a certain country's culture because it was my own and should not have done that.  Do not attack any countries here.

There seems to be some confusion amongst readers, so I thought I should send this note to straighten out the confusion I seemed to have caused.  If you read this, then you do not have to keep asking me the difference.  Your input and support is appreciated.  If you can't come up with a better solution, want to hold your head in the sand and hope it gets better, or just want to flame Stray Dog, well have a beer and leave the typing to those of us who are trying to find solutions to a truly world interhash.

1.  "Interhash" is the official name of the first gathering of hashes by the Mother Hash in Kuala Lumpur and an event held biennially since the first one held 17 times previously only in Asia, Australia and two times in Europe.

Since its structure is such that it will never be in North America, South America nor Africa, it is not a "world" event.  It could be, if it ever changes its policies to require that.

 2.  The Great Africa MigratiOnOn is an alternative event or inclusive event to "Interhash" held one week before "Interhash" in Java, Indonesia.  Some hashers are going to the Africa event only because they are angry about charges of host election fraud at the last "Interhash" that took the bid away from Africa.  Some are going to both.

3.  The email I sent out about the charges of "Interhash" host election fraud was clearly labeled an "editorial" and my personal opinion which hash no weight to tell hashes anything.  In my "editorial" I stated that I felt the real winner of the next "Interhash" should be Africa.  Since that time, my emails asking if Africa was interested in hosting the beginning of a competing event with "Interhash" was met with silence.  They are not interested in starting a separate event nor getting involved with the election of a new event host, so they are not "Interhash" by their own decision.  So, No 4 below was born to answer that call from many readers that we create a competing event with "Interhash", like competing cell phone companies, long-distance services and computer companies, to convince "Interhash" to lower their fees (no more $250,000 left over), have honest finances and elections that allow the event to be all over the world, not just in EuroAsiaDownUnder.

 4.  "World Interhash" is an international event held annually since 1995 for

17 times, once called "Global Trash Hash" until Jiangmen, China this year.

It was renamed to reflect the fact that it has assumed the role as a competing event with "Interhash" to provide three things "Interhash" does not seem to get a grasp of:

 *  Mandatory tri-regional rotation making it truly a worldwide event, scheduled now in Orlando, Florida Sep 2012, Heidelberg, Germany 2013, and Okinawa, Japan 2014, with 2015 being chosen from the Americas region by the democratically elected World Interhash committee in June.

 *  Mandatory cap on registration fees set by the democratically elected committee based on host area, not host greed, beginning with a cap set by World YHHH GM for the next three events at US$150, the standard beginning fee for most Interhash events recently.  No more US$250 to $300 final registration fees required by, yes, even Java, Africa and Brussels.  This allows more hashers to attend and get the same or better quality event for half.

 *  A starting fee of US$69.95 that is a complete registration fee - no more payments - and gets you a complete registration with ability to transfer at same price.

*  Democratic election of a World Interhash Committee chosen by all hashers in the world (not just those who can afford to get to that part of the world), with committee member numbers evenly divided and selected from three regions around the world.  No more domination of one region over host selection nor charges of host election fraud as in the last "Interhash".

 *  Transparent and honest financing.  All funds will be accounted for and audited by a committee elected by all the hashers in the world, then an accounting sheet placed on-line for all to see.  No more charges of vendor kickbacks, corruption, actual quarter million dollar surpluses, and other charges of poor management, corruption and theft of interhash funds.

*  Annual, because Global Trash Hash has always been annual and allows more hosts an opportunity to hold it.

Hope that helps.  See you in Mombasa in May and if you think a competing world interhash is a good idea, twice the interhash for half the price, then see you in Orlando or Heidelberg or Okinawa!

 Cheers and On On

In a few days, there will be a significant spike in the cost of World Interhash for Orlando 2012, also a rise for Heidelberg 2013 and Okinawa 2014.  I won't bore you here, but a lot more details available in the recent post by logging onto WorldHHH.com.

Bottom line, pay double or triple for Java for a lesser event, or pay a hell of a lot less for Orlando - one of the top tourists destinations on earth.

Of course you can go to both, but you will certainly get a lot more bang for your buck in Orlando and we promise your money will all go to the event!  No

US$250,000 dollars not used for the event as a recent Interhash host posted - your  money wasted!

Competition is good, it keeps your cell phone, long distance fees and computers down.  With your help, it will drive down the cost of interhashes by supporting World Interhash, twice the quality event for half the cost!

1.  This is a note to let you know my email has changed again.  Please do not enter it in your address book unless you have good anti-virus software.

 2.  The $69.95 price for World Interhash will probably only last about another two or three weeks at the most, so please sign up soon and show your support. Thanks for all the warm response to World Interhash and those who have already signed up, especially for those who signed up for all three events in Orlando 2012, Heidelberg 2013 and Okinawa 2014. Thanks.

3.  This is also the annual email check to confirm member data for your protection.  If you get this, you signed up on worldhhh.com.  If you are no longer a member of the Hash House Harriers and wished to be removed as a member from all websites, answer this email and state the

following:

"Unsubscribe me and remove me for all time from membership to the

www.worldhhh.com and related sites worldhashspace.com and hhhweb.com.

Thanks."

You will then be removed from the membership directory.  To prevent a lot of yo-yo'ing and trouble, you will be added to the list of people who have lost their membership and will require an editor's approval to return.

Also, don't forget, see some of you in Africa in May.

Here are some answers to your questions/remarks/flames in the form of a FAQ:

 *  You said that there were only 12 messages a year on [email protected]?

Unsubscribe is changing, go to that topic near the bottom and read.  There will now only be one message a month, no opinion and no editorials on members list.

*  Who gave you permission to use worldinterhash.com, World Interhash belongs to Java.

ICANN - come on, as experienced hashers know, the oldest and once most cherished event in hashing was called 'Interhash' not World Interhash.

 *  Orlando is in 2012 and Africa is in 2012, shouldn't Orlando be in 2013?

(I got a couple of these)

I myself will be in Africa in May to to support their bid like many of you.

Several queries to Africa about assuming the role of Interhash and holding a vote were not met with any positive response.  It is my understanding that the committee does not want to appear to have sour grapes and are just putting on their show in good hashmanship as a prelude to Interhash.  We will leave them at that.  However, for those of us who did want a competing Interhash, I finally stuck my foot in my mouth and announced that I would rename my annual international event to World Interhash to supply that need.

It has been an annual event since 1995, with the last being in Jiangmen, China, so it made sense to convert an already existing event for our needs, with the new mandatory tri-regional rotation everyone wanted.  Since the next one had to be next year, I put it at the end of September so as not to detract from Africa for all of us who wanted to go there.  I want to thank those who applauded my courage to try, and am sorry if that upset some of you.

*  Could you give us a definite deadline for the US$69.95?

I know some of you are on a budget, so I will give you this.  The registration fee for Orlando will go up to US$100 as soon as the first 200 registrants have paid or 1 November 2011, whichever comes first, so hurry, there is a lot of interest (and the list you see on the website may be many days behind the rush).

 * Shouldn't we have discussed this first?

Patchwork Quilt did not get permission to start InterAm, I did not get permission to start the USA Nash Hash and hashes and interhashes have been started for decades without a lot of discussion.  I do need your support, opinions and discussion to make it an event everyone will cherish and that is appreciated.  You can get on the discussion list by sending an email to [email protected] or go to the WorldHashSpace.com forum, and post to your heart's content.

 *  Sending information is one thing asking for money is another, now piss off

I don't know of any other way to start an event and get initial funding to make reservations, etc., than to ask for registration money, unless you wish me to pay for it myself.  It is funny how some people want you to pay for everything and give it to them free, like web servers, email servers, new competing World Interhash they asked for, etc., but don't dare send out a commercial asking for them to help fund it.  The unsubscribe information is below if it offends you - do a down down with that remark.

 *  Unsubscribe is Changing

First, [email protected] is going back to being a one way, 12 times a year email list.  Since apparently there are a few people who have trouble scrolling to the bottom to find [email protected] as the means to unsubscribe and keep bothering and flaming me.  Everyone on the world site will get one email a month ONLY information, no editorials, if they are a member of worldhhh.com otherwise.  I plan to make that process more simple for [email protected] list in the future by allowing you to ban yourself from worldhhh.com by sending me an email to unsubscribe - so if you don't want the email list, go ahead and ask me unsubscribe and you will be off all of it and all my websites - I do not have time to sort it all out and remind people anymore about a simple process.  If you are not on the website, you won't be put on the list.  From now on, the discussion list, opinions, editorials, information, etc., will be at [email protected] as it was originally intended and it will have automatic unsubscibe (members of that list seem to GET IT.  If you get a message from that list, then all you have to do is send a message to [email protected]  To do anything else will get you removed from the list and all the websites.  I hope that makes it a lot easier for everyone.  Then, if you want back on the website, you have to ask to be reinstated.  Sorry that sounds harsh, but I am getting tired of being insulted by these people who can't read a simple unsubscribe statement.

To unsubscribe, send an email to [email protected], DO NOT REPLY, it will not be answered.  WorldHHH.com new members or members who recently update their account on worldhhh.com or worldhashspace.com are added automatically.  Messages occur ONLY about a dozen or so times a year.  If you send a message to the sender to unsubscribe, it will be ignored - manual unsubscribe with a list this large is extremely time consuming and will not be done.  If you signed up with an alias or mail-forwarding address, you were warned not to when signing up, we cannot help you.  Automated unsubscribe ONLY!

[hashlist] Q&A 18th World Interhash 2012 Orlando, Florida, USA

I have gotten some really nutty questions since announcing this event, as well as no shortage of advice, flames and kudos, but here are some that repeat and could help you, assuming you give a s**t : )  I can promise you this, nobody has ever walked away from one of the 17 previous Global Trash Hashes (now World Interhash) complaining they did not get more than their money's worth and have a great time with some of the friendliest hashers in interhashing.  Read on below for your boring pleasure and see you in Orlando in September!

http://www.WorldInterhash.com

Q:  "Can you help me with getting a visa to attend?"
A:  Orlando gets over 50 million non-USA visitors every year according to internet sources.  That said, I learned that nothing we could do would help you.  About a half decade ago, we had many from oversears register for the year we emphsized Family Hashers.  They wanted to attend with their families, however, even after sending them letters of registration and invitation, they were unable to get a visa.  Since 9-11, visas are difficult.  The criteria for getting a tourist visa - permanent address location, stable job or business, money in an account or home ownership helping - are still necessary to come to the U.S.  That is why, without the mandatory rotation, the U.S. would never otherwise get a world scope interhash event and why the Americans, who have one fourth of the world hashes, are only being fairly treated by World Interhash.  If you plan to attend, NOW is the time to apply for your visa.  Just tell them you are going to Disney World, and you will have the best chance (don't mention 'Hash' : )

Q:  "The problem is how to confirm booking when paying cash."
A:  We currently only use Pay Pal which accepts funds directly from your check account, debit cards or credit cards.  The reason we require payment ahead of the event is for planning to make sure everyone has plenty of food, refreshment and the venue is large enough.  Also, if not paid in advance and people back out, we are left holding a lot of inventory and paying for a venue that is too large and expensive.

Q:  "I am having trouble with the worldinterhash.com, it requires me to log in and have an account."

A:  The World Interhash is a World HHH supported event and there are security issues.  Global Trash was the first website of any significance (first page going online in July 1995) and the first to ensure hasher's security through passwords and according to one security analyst, while not unnecessarily hard to get into, the best security of all the hash websites she has tested - some having not log in timeouts and some with backdoors that are easy to find because they were made by a commercial vendor.  That is why we require a log in.  But what the hey, after you get a GlobalKey login, you can reach the largest on-line volume of hash information in the world, be able to socialize with others of our over 25 thousand member social network - the first on-line social networking site starting at hhhweb.com then moving to worldhashspace.com.

Q:  "Should I sign up now for Heidleberg and Okinawa?"
A:  The sooner you sign up, the more you save.  It is so cheap now for those expensive venues that a hasher would not be wise if not signing up ahead of time.  With these prices, if you determine you cannot make it later, you can always sell them at this low price later on.  The best bang for your beer buck is to sign up for all three now and save even more.  Some hashers have already taken advantage of that.

Q:  "What makes the World Interhash qualified to assume a role as a world event alternative to Interhash?  Who voted you the world hash leader?"

A:  The short answer - putting the event on successfully 18 times coming this September.  The World Interhash is formerly the Global Trash Hash and has been held annually since 1995.  Everyone who has attended a Global event, from Ethiopia to India to China to Japan to Europe has said that they got double or triple their registraion money's worth compared to other events around the world.  Jiangmen, China was a really great event and we plan to outdo it in Orlando in September.  We do this through careful planning and the GM's experience hosting and running scores of interhash events, including EuroHash and founding the USA Nash Hash.  Yeah, tooting my horn, regrettably, but alas nobody has more experience running interhash weekends ...

(which means nobody is more stupid than I!)

We are going to have a hell of a time.

Thanks for your interest and hope to see you there.

Cheers and On On

NNZ HHH News letter from the NZ GM

Posted by Stroker on January 11, 2012 at 1:40 PM

www.nzhhh.co.nz (Check it out, you may be amazed at what you find!)

Hi Hashers, well for those of you regular ‘Travelling Hash’ Hashers & Hussies, away run opportunities have been a little quiet of late however not to worry there are lotz of opportunities for 'away' runs scheduled for 2012.

Whats Been.

Port Nicholson Geriatrics 1400th in July. A sunny afternoon running around Karori, good company and a great feed made for a very enjoyable celebration.

Christchurch 1800th August, weather patchy and a re-run of a tried and true trail from the Riccarton Racecourse had Dagy front running from pretty much every check. Advantageous for me as following him had me at the numerous piss stops in plenty of time to carbo load for the next leg.

Hash the Rugby World Cup. Hash runs around the country, to time with programmed Rugby World Cup matches. Unsure whether the hash fraternity gained any new runners from the efforts but a good time, and a few extra runs for those that participated can never be wrong. Thanks to K9, Deep Throat, & Sproggy for providing the concept, and all involved for planning and coordinating these events.

Taupo Labour Weekend. Wet on the inside (plenty of beer), Wet on the outside (literally pissing down). Once again a great weekend hosted by Red Riding Hood, long may they continue.

Mt Maunganui 1222 November. A return to Sapphire Springs, camping and hot pools albeit shared with the humans. A grumpy ‘Sheriff’ meant no beers in the pool but an awesome time had by all anyway.

Editors Note: Mcwatt should not set Recovery Runs, I needed another one of a more reasonable length to recover.

Bay of Islands 222 in sunny Kerikeri. Election weekend, immediately following the Mounts 1222 resulted in a smaller crowd but no less fun. Awesome venue, awesome hosts, awesome time.

Maungawai Heads, run organised on request c/o Sharkey & Tatie who live up there full time now. Sun, sand, and stairs (I hate stairs) followed by beers and a Bar B. Great territory, great venue, and once again great company. Thanks team, look forward to my next opportunity to run up that way.

Editors warning: Sharkie’s retirement pressie was a camper, so he’s mobile, and likely to be coming to run near you.

 Energiser 2012, 9 – 11 Mar 2012 Stratford (South of New Plymouth)

A Bi-annual…ish event, previous Energisers have been exceptional weekends and the 2012 event promises no less. Not to be missed!

Kenya Preamble to Interhash, 18 – 20 May 2012 (Africa)

Lots of International Hash politics with regards this event however saying that, I am sure all that attend will have an awesome time.

Interhash Java, 25 – 27 May 2012 (Indonesia)

I won’t make this one but look forward to the stories from those that do.

NOMAD, 2 – 4 June (Queens B/Day Weekend) Mangaweka.

Annual Central Nth Island, ‘back to basics’ weekend. You can expect a wet, cold (and this aint just the beer) event where the lack of committee requires everyone to chip in and help to achieve a great weekend the way it used to be. Awesome fun and a great weekend check out the flier, and we look forward to seeing you there. At $70, you can’t afford to miss it!

And Even Further Out…

NZ NASH HASH, 15 – 17 Feb 2013 Nelson

Aussi Nash Hash, 3 - 5 May 2013 Brisbane (Australia)

14th Pan Asia Hash, 5 – 7 Jul 2013 Pattaya (Thailand)

 Special Notes

In summary, some awesome events, well patronised and thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. A big thanks to all those hosting these events, this can’t be done without your efforts and commitment.

For those of you that attended... how about some Run Reports, Trash's & Photos for the website. Let’s show those non-attendees what they missed, email to [email protected]

Lots of up and coming opportunities to get out there and meet new hashers around the country, we all look forward to catching up.

On On for now and look forward to seeing you on the trail
